This is a full-time, fixed term contract (working to December 2019 – possibility of an extension).

Our client is seeking a highly-motivated and enthusiastic Project Officer/Energy Advisor (LCW) to assist businesses with grant applications and claim processes.  You will appraise applications, as well as monitor the performance of funded projects and report on progress.  Your role will involve promoting the Low Carbon Workspaces (LCW) grants to SMEs in Buckinghamshire through liaison with suppliers, partners and identified stakeholders, working closely with the Marketing team.

Responsibilities to include :-

  • Identifying/encouraging businesses to apply for grants, as well as developing a working relationship with customers, enabling them to make savings through energy and resource efficiencies
  • Providing telephone and 1:1 support to SMEs / helping identify solutions which best meets the energy needs of the business through supporting the development of energy and resource efficiency plans and their implementation / discussing business processes and the potential for building good practice in energy and resource management
  • Providing telephone support, resolving queries and account managing individuals through the process of applying for a grant
  • Ensuring all key outputs/outcomes/milestones are delivered in accordance with the project plan to secure project income in line with agreed budgets
  • Acting as a first point of contact for all enquiries relating to the project delivery
  • Working with colleagues to plan/implement promotional activities that will reach key target markets
  • Building/developing professional working relationships with key partners and contacts in Hertfordshire and monitoring local sub-contractors
  • Monitoring/reviewing all work carried out for the local project (both internally and externally), ensuring the programme is delivered to a high standard
  • Maintaining/submitting monthly reports on project progress
  • Ensuring compliance with funders’ guidance and company processes
  • Maintaining accurate financial records for budget management purposes, ensuring match funding is recorded appropriately
  • Undertaking other tasks that may be required from time to time
Special Requirements: 
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is absolutely essential
  • Proven excellent Project Management skills and experience
  • A keen and demonstrable interest in economic development and environmental and sustainable issues (desirable)
  • Experience of selling a product or service to business contractors (essential)
  • A good telephone manner / experience of providing a rigorous and responsive customer facing service
  • Educated to ‘A’ Level (or above), with fantastic IT skills particularly all Microsoft packages
  • A proven track record in working with businesses and/or individuals to reduce their carbon footprint
  • Experience in identifying, engaging and working with key partners to promote a project or service
  • Ability and willingness to attend meetings and events at locations across Buckinghamshire (and occasionally further afield) and occasionally outside normal working hours
  • A thorough and professional approach to work, with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well part of a team
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office and confidence in using web-based IT systems
